We are offering a great opportunity for teams to enhance their Instant Challenge
skills in a “live” practice session. Please let us know if you would like to participate via
email: Jan Darnell (jan.darnell@pekin.net) and we will add your team(s) to the
schedule.
What is required and how will it work?
Team Managers will each be assigned a location. Teams will then rotate through the
different locations, doing a different IC in each room. Team Managers will complete a
feedback sheet for each of the teams that pass through their room. Feedback sheets
will be sorted and you will receive sheets for your team at the end of the session. You
will not do an IC with your own IC team challenge.
The next step is for you to select an Instant Challenge to do with the teams who visit
your classroom. The IC you select should have a "hands on or hybrid " element, it
should not be verbal only. Bring enough materials to do the same IC with each of the
teams who visit your room. To ensure we do not have duplicate challenges, please
advise the title/name of the Instant Challenge you will do with the kids by Monday,
January 4 to the above email contact.
Since Team Managers will be manning their IC Room it is recommended that you have
a second parent available to circulate with your team. Parents are encouraged to
attend with their children to see first-hand what IC is all about.
If you need assistance with this please let us know and we will work with you to make
arrangements for another volunteer to help.
A sample schedule follows (will be amended based on number of participating teams):
12:30 1:00 pm Welcome Orientation and Kick Off
1:10 - 1:30 pm IC Session 1
1:30 - 1:50 pm IC Session 2
1:50 - 2:10 pm IC Session 3
2:10 - 2:30 pm IC Session 4
2:30 - 2:50 pm Snack (bring for YOUR team)
2:50 - 3:10 pm IC Session 5
3:10 - 3:30 pm IC Session 6
3:30 - 3:50 pm IC Session 7
3:50 - 4:00 pm Classroom cleanup and Feedback sheet distribution
